TOOL SKOOL

Woodwork Wonders: A Hands-On Windmill Workshop with Asher from Tool Skool

Last week, 5/6G were treated to a truly memorable experience when Asher, a talented woodwork artisan, visited our school to lead a hands-on workshop. With sleeves rolled up and tools at the ready, students embarked on a creative journey to build their very own rubber band-operated windmills.

Asher guided the students step by step through the entire process, blending craftsmanship with a sense of curiosity. The workshop began with careful measuring and planning, as students learned the importance of precision in woodworking. Then came the sawing—using coping saws to shape the wooden pieces—and the satisfying rhythm of hammering nails into place.

Throughout the session, students used a variety of tools, including hammers, glue, sandpaper, and screwdrivers. They sawed, nailed, screwed, and smoothed their creations, gaining confidence with each step. Asher’s calm and encouraging presence made the experience both educational and enjoyable, and his passion for woodwork was truly infectious.

By the end of the workshop, each student had crafted a unique windmill powered by a simple rubber band mechanism. More than just a fun project, the activity taught valuable lessons in design, engineering, and perseverance.

We are incredibly grateful to Asher for sharing his time and expertise. The workshop was a wonderful blend of creativity and hands-on learning—an experience our students will not soon forget!
