PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Hello Families,

It’s hard to believe that we are almost at the end of Week 8! We have had a wonderful fortnight at Warrane Primary School.

Firstly, a big congratulations to the students who were selected to attend Learner’s Lounge this week! This special recognition was awarded to Jaxson, Addie, Jadah, Flynn, Charlie, Ivy, Mayiyam, Nova, Callum, Hazel, Harrison, Nate, Arlo, and Tyke. Each of these students proudly shared a range of outstanding work, including engaging recount writing, clever addition strategies, creative artwork, and even some impressive knitting projects! To celebrate their achievements, the students enjoyed a warm cup of Milo and a biscuit while sharing their learning with others in a relaxed and encouraging environment. It was a joy to see their confidence and pride as they spoke about their work. I’m already looking forward to seeing who will be invited to our final Learner’s Lounge for Term 2 in Week 10. Keep up the fantastic effort, everyone!

On Friday, 6th June, Warrane Primary teaching staff joined with colleagues from Clarendon Vale and Rokeby for Moderation Day. This collaborative event is an essential part of our professional development, allowing teachers to come together to discuss their assessment practices. During Moderation Day, teachers shared insights and strategies to ensure consistency in grading and feedback across different schools. This process provided an excellent opportunity for teachers to learn from each other, share best practices, and develop new approaches to support student learning. We look forward to implementing the ideas and strategies discussed during Moderation Day to further enrich the learning experience at Warrane Primary School.

Last Friday, it was the Year 5–6 Gearman class’s turn to host ‘Together at the Table’, and what a wonderful event it was! Families gathered to share a delicious meal featuring hearty meatloaf and fragrant Moroccan lamb, followed by a refreshing dessert of fruit and yoghurt. It was heartwarming to see such a strong turnout from our school community, and I was especially proud of our students. Many of them stepped out of their comfort zones to try new and unfamiliar flavours—some even surprised themselves by enjoying dishes they initially thought they wouldn’t like! Their open-mindedness and adventurous spirit were truly commendable.

Today, both Year 3–4 classes embarked on an exciting excursion to the Sustainability Centre. Throughout the day, our students engaged in hands-on learning experiences that deepened their understanding of environmental stewardship. They explored practical ways to care for our planet and reflected on the importance of preserving natural resources for future generations. We were incredibly proud of how they represented our school, consistently demonstrating our core values of respect and responsibility. Their curiosity, thoughtful questions, and positive behaviour made it a memorable and meaningful day for all involved.

Have a wonderful week
