PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Hello Families,

Wow! What a busy fortnight it has been at WPS!

Firstly, thank you to all who came along and helped with or purchased from the WPSA Legislative Council Election BBQ and Cake Stall. The fundraising event was a great success thanks to our hardworking volunteers and WPSA committee members. Your efforts are highly appreciated by us all and I look forward to the next WPSA meeting and hearing more. If you are not involved and would like to join the community, please see our friendly office staff for more details.

Thank you also to those families who attended yesterday’s Celebration of Learning Assembly, which showcased what has been happening in some of our classrooms this term, including 1-2W, 5-6G, and 3-4S. I am proud of all our students and understand how challenging it can be to speak or perform in front of an audience, so well done everyone!

On Monday, Mr. Kamano, Ms. Didham, and Chelsea took 29 students to Bayview High School for the Division C Interschool Cross-country. Everyone tried their best in their race and demonstrated resilience and perseverance. A special mention to Xaxtyn who won his race and now has the opportunity to compete at the Champions carnival. Thank you to our teachers and parents who supported the event, and congratulations to our Interschool cross-country team.

Tomorrow, WPS teachers will connect with staff from Clarendon Vale Primary and Risdon Vale Primary for Moderation Day. During the day, teachers will work together to better understand the assessment of student work, particularly relating to reading. This day is a wonderful opportunity for teachers to ensure that student learning outcomes are of the same standard across schools. Remember, tomorrow is a student-free day (and Monday, 9 June is a public holiday)!

Have a relaxing long weekend, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Tuesday, 10 June.
