Hello to the Warrane School Community,
Reports will be sent home with students on Friday 30th June. This year the report your child brings home will look slightly different, each child will receive an A-E mark in English, Maths, Science and PE. If your child is assessed against a Learning Plan, all goals will be marked against.
You will also receive an annotated work sample for English and Maths. The work samples will have comments attached and a future focus for your child to work on next term. These samples will be what is discussed in the parent teacher meetings in the last week of this term. You can book these appointments through Schoolzine.
At Warrane Primary School we believe that every student has the ability to learn and succeed. Reporting is a time for teachers to reflect on the growth and understanding of each individual in their classroom and share this with you.
Next term we will have a focus on Attendance. Everyday Counts!
Our attendance figures at the moment are concerning. I understand that this time of year children are unwell and have more time off school due to illness. I encourage that if your child is unwell for them to stay home, but please contact the office or classroom teacher so we can amend this on our records. If you do not call the absence is marked unexplained. Next year the Department of Education and Young People will be sending letters home to families for unexplained absences.
Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Sarah

There are lots of things you can do to set your child up for success:
Make sure your child goes to school, every day
Going to school every day gives your child every chance to learn and grow, and connect with their mates and teachers. It’s where bright futures start and where they’ll benefit the most.
Get them excited for school
If you show a positive attitude and excitement towards school, your child will pick up on that.
» spend time with their friends and teachers
» create new and fun experiences
» find their interests
» learn new things
» open up their options – for whatever future they want (whether that’s their dream job or to travel around the world).
Share these positives with your child.
Talk to your child about school
Open up a conversation with your child about what’s happening at school. It will help you to better support their interests and confidence in learning. If you show an interest in school, they’ll know that getting an education is important and valued.
Celebrate the milestones
Big and small! Celebrate milestones such as making it through the first day or week of school. And remember: all milestones look different. If it’s a big achievement for your child, it’s important to recognise it.
Set up a time to talk to your child’s teacher or principal
If you’re struggling to get your child to school, help is available. Please talk to us at school about your situation. We’ll support you, in whatever way we can.
Know when to seek help
There is no weakness in admitting you need help. If your child has completely disengaged with school, and not attending at all, there is support to help you. In the first instance, talk to us at school.
For more helpful tips, please check out the anything can happen website.

Snapshot from Prep/1 Clark:
Our excursion to the TMAG and Bellerive Beach Park yesterday was a wonderful experience and was thoroughly enjoyed by both classes. At the Museum we saw the fantastic new gallery for children “mapiya lumi/around here”. The focus of the exhibition is on a sense of home and place that is unique to the islands that make up Lutruwita/Tasmania. Students enjoyed the hands on exhibits, many display cases full of interesting objects and all the hanging creatures above them. The foam slide was a real hit with everyone.
The weather was great at the park and after a quick lunch the students had a marvellous time exploring the nature play areas, giant slides and water world.
Both classes had an amazing time and were praised by Museum staff for their enthusiasm, brilliant manners and behaviour!

On Monday 19th June the Grade 6 students will be selling party pies, sausage rolls and pies (meat and vegetarian options available).
All money raised will be going towards the Grade 6 End of Year activities.
Please return the form with correct change to the office by tomorrow, Friday 16th June.
Our School Association Meeting will be held on Friday 23rd July at 9am.
Members to meet at the office please.
Parents should not be parking in the staff car park to pick up and drop off children.
The visitor carpark is the designated parent/guardian carpark for dropping students off and picking them up.
The smaller carpark is the staff/delivery carpark. Due to poor visibility and delivery trucks traversing the staff carpark, parents/guardians are requested to only use the visitor carpark.
We appreciate your cooperation.
As you may be aware, Warrane Primary School is a Nut Aware School. In order to reduce the risk of contact with these foods, eating times are closely supervised and children are required to wash their hands after eating to ensure there is no risk of contamination by touch.
We are seeking your help in keeping our school Nut Aware by asking that you do not send any items with your child/ren that may contain nuts.
Foods of greatest risk would be peanut butter, nutella and sweets containing nuts.
Thank you for your understanding.
Thank you to families that have finalised their levy payments for 2023.
School levies form an essential proportion of school income. As you are aware these levies go towards, but do not fully cover stationery, excursions, school lunch program, performances and educational equipment.
If you need to set up a payment plan you can do so by contacting the school office otherwise levies can be paid by the below payment methods.
- At the school (by EFTPOS, cash or cheque)
- At Service Tasmania (by EFTPOS, cash or cheque)
- Through BPAY (using the Biller Code and Reference on your invoice)
- By mail, forward your cheque, money order or credit card details to the school, with the payment slip from your invoice attached (payable to the Department of Education)
- Using Centrepay, a service provided by Centrelink.
There are a range of options available to support families with the costs of schooling.
You are eligible for the Student Assistance Scheme (STAS) if you hold a Health Care Card, Low Income Health Care Card, or Pensioner Concession Card. Once you have applied for STAS, you will not need to pay any levies. You may apply online, or collect a paper application form from the school office.
Families receiving STAS can access the Spectacles Assistance Scheme to support children who require spectacles.
A letter has been sent out to parents to those who have outstanding levies.
Please contact Laura Grant, School Business Manager on 6244 1747 if you have any questions or would like to organise a payment plan at our school. Personal information relating to levies will always be treated with confidentiality.
If you reside in our school intake area, and your child will be attending Kindergarten at Warrane School in 2024, (turning 5 years old during 2024) please complete a form at the office.
