Warrane Primary School - Term 4 - 6th November 2025

Hello Warrane Community,

Term 4 is always a busy and exciting time, and the past fortnight has been no exception!

Excursions and Adventures
Grades 3/4 Spencer and 5/6 Stanford-Bowerman enjoyed a fantastic excursion to the Hobart Zoo and Aquarium, finishing their day at beautiful Richmond Park. Feedback from students and staff has been overwhelmingly positive — highlights included feeding and patting wallabies, meeting a friendly snake, and watching some very entertaining monkey antics!

Our Prep students had a special visit from the team at Bonorong Wildlife Park, who shared fascinating insights about local animals. The students were full of curiosity and asked lots of thoughtful questions — it was a wonderful learning experience.

Meanwhile, 1/2 Clark continued their fortnightly visits to the United Care Aged Centre. These visits have been such a meaningful way to build connections within our community. The stories shared and friendships formed between students and residents have been truly heartwarming to see.

Learning and Growth
All students have recently participated in the PAT (Progressive Achievement Tests) for reading comprehension and numeracy. These assessments give teachers valuable insight into each student’s learning progress and growth over the year. The results help inform end-of-year reports and planning for the remainder of the term, and they’ll also be passed on to students’ teachers in 2026 to support a smooth transition.

Exciting News!
We’re thrilled to share some joyful news — Mrs Jones (formerly Miss Withers) is expecting a baby! Please join us in congratulating her and wishing her all the best as she begins this exciting new chapter.

Also a big congratulations to Miss Williams, who recently got married! We wish her and her husband all the very best for their future together. Miss Williams will now be known as Mrs Hope.

Warm regards,
Sarah

I acknowledge and pay respect to the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community as the traditional and original owners of lutruwita/trowunna (Tasmania) and as the enduring custodians of the lands, seas, air and waterways. I pay respect to Elders past and present.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all Pre-Kinder families.

These sessions are for children who:

  • are born in 2021 and will be turning 4 this year
  • live in the area and will be attending Kindergarten at Warrane Primary in 2026

Time:  9:00am -10:00am

When:  Thursday mornings in the Kindergarten classroom.

These fun, play-based sessions help your child become familiar with the school, meet new friends, and build confidence for starting Kindergarten next year.

Parents and carers must stay to supervise their child during each session.

Kind regards,

Mrs Reinbach

Term 4 is certainly a very busy term and we are all working really hard. A week in the pool at Oceana was special, followed by the spectacular Halloween disco that everyone was so excited about. An excellent effort by our wonderful parent community association.

Our class has been learning about the Weather during Science and the Seasons during Maths work about Time. With the help of Mrs Jones we made four different pictures of a tree representing the four seasons.

It was great to have them hanging in our room. They gave us lots of opportunities for discussions about our favourite time of the year and why each is important to us. Which season is your favourite?

We have launched into Term 4 with enthusiasm and positivity. It is a hectic (but fun-filled) term, especially with our grade 6 leaders wrapping up primary life and looking toward high school. Thank you to all our school community who consistently support our fundraising efforts to enable every grade 6 student to add enjoyable memories to their school life.

Friday, October 31st, was Halloween, and we embedded all our numeracy, literacy, and HASS work with the celebration. We learned about the history of Halloween and discovered that it is not an American celebration, nor is it just about treats (although we enjoyed some of those, too).

Making real-life connections with our learning helps us to be more enthusiastic and focused on our learning tasks.

Halloween School Disco – A Night to Remember!

Our students... and adults, had an incredible time at the Halloween School Disco! The creativity and effort put into the costumes were outstanding, and the atmosphere was full of excitement and fun.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Daniel Hulme, David O’Byrne, and Meg Brown and Allison Ritchie for their generous support of this event. Your contribution helped make this celebration a wonderful experience for our school community.

Thank you to everyone who participated and made the night so special!

We welcome volunteers at Warrane Primary School. As you would know from the past, volunteers require a Working with Vulnerable People check to be able to come onsite to help with events and excursions.

Registration to work with vulnerable people (cbos.tas.gov.au)

There is now an additional requirement that all volunteers have completed the mandatory safeguarding training module. The certificate must be provided to our office staff before you are able to volunteer.

For more information and to complete the safeguarding training visit:

If your child has a medical condition, it is important that we have all relevant information. This includes 2025 Authorisation for Administration of Student Medication forms, Medical Action Plans and/or Student Medical Condition Plans before the start of the school year.

Authorisation for Administration of Student Medication forms need to be filled out for both prescription and non-prescription medications. You can find blank forms attached below or request them from the school office. Form A is for non-prescription medicine and can be filled in by a parent. Form B is for prescription medicine and needs a GP or pharmacist input. Students needing short-term medication like antibiotics or Panadol must submit these forms before staff can administer them.

All medical forms must be updated yearly and signed by the child’s healthcare provider. If the current forms are less than two years old, a letter from your GP can confirm their validity.

We have students who are allergic to nuts and eggs. As this allergic reaction can be life threatening, the school asks that these products are not brought to school in children’s lunch boxes or for class celebrations.

Items not to be brought to school include but are not limited to - all nut products, peanut butter, Nutella, peanut oil in margarines and all egg products.

It is important that all classes observe this nut and egg aware policy due to the danger of an allergic child coming into contact with residue left by other classes. The parents/carers and staff appreciate your co-operation in this serious matter.

Reminder: Hats Required in Term 4

As we head into Term 4, please be reminded that all students must wear a hat when outside during school hours. This is part of our SunSmart policy to ensure students are protected from harmful UV exposure.

No Hat, Shaded Play:
Students who do not have a hat will be required to stay under cover during outdoor activities, including recess and lunch.

School hats are available for purchase at the office. Please ensure your child brings a clearly labelled hat to school each day.

Thank you for your support in keeping our students safe and sun-smart!

At Warrane Primary School, we offer a Breakfast Club every school morning for our students, providing toast, cereal, fresh fruit, and milk.
The Breakfast Club runs from 8.30am to 8.45am.

All students are welcome.

A reminder that families are required to use the larger family carpark for school drop off and pick up.

The smaller carpark near the early years classes is for staff and service vehicles only. It does not have enough parking for families and the visibility of the surrounding area and access in and out during busy times creates an added safety risk to students.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this.
