Hello Families,
Wow! What a busy fortnight it has been at WPS!
Firstly, thank you to all who came along and helped with or purchased from the WPSA Legislative Council Election BBQ and Cake Stall. The fundraising event was a great success thanks to our hardworking volunteers and WPSA committee members. Your efforts are highly appreciated by us all and I look forward to the next WPSA meeting and hearing more. If you are not involved and would like to join the community, please see our friendly office staff for more details.
Thank you also to those families who attended yesterday’s Celebration of Learning Assembly, which showcased what has been happening in some of our classrooms this term, including 1-2W, 5-6G, and 3-4S. I am proud of all our students and understand how challenging it can be to speak or perform in front of an audience, so well done everyone!
On Monday, Mr. Kamano, Ms. Didham, and Chelsea took 29 students to Bayview High School for the Division C Interschool Cross-country. Everyone tried their best in their race and demonstrated resilience and perseverance. A special mention to Xaxtyn who won his race and now has the opportunity to compete at the Champions carnival. Thank you to our teachers and parents who supported the event, and congratulations to our Interschool cross-country team.
Tomorrow, WPS teachers will connect with staff from Clarendon Vale Primary and Risdon Vale Primary for Moderation Day. During the day, teachers will work together to better understand the assessment of student work, particularly relating to reading. This day is a wonderful opportunity for teachers to ensure that student learning outcomes are of the same standard across schools. Remember, tomorrow is a student-free day (and Monday, 9 June is a public holiday)!
Have a relaxing long weekend, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Tuesday, 10 June.
Frances

I acknowledge and pay respect to the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community as the traditional and original owners of lutruwita/trowunna (Tasmania) and as the enduring custodians of the lands, seas, air and waterways. I pay respect to Elders past and present.

Warrane Primary School participated in the SPSSA Inter-School Cross Country Carnival on Monday 2nd June. Students showed excellent team work throughout the day and contributed their best efforts when participating in their allocated races. We were proud of their sportsmanship, enthusiasm and upholding our school values during the event.
Welcome to the Learners Lounge - A celebration of Student Voice and Learning.
Learners Lounge is a welcoming inclusive space where students come together to share and celebrate their learning with peers and other classes.
It is held in a relaxed environment providing the students with an opportunity to showcase their work, explain their learning process, and take pride in their achievements. This fosters confidence and communication skills and strengthens connections across year levels, building a culture of collaboration, and nurtures respect for diverse ideas and learning styles.

Students from Prep to Year 2 were presented with the Bravehearts personal safety education program last week. Ditto's Keep Safe Show is aligned with the Australian Curriculum and is delivered by specially trained educators.
Bravehearts' Ditto's Keep Safe Adventure Show is underpinned by principles of personal safety.
- We all have the right to feel safe with people.
- It's ok to say NO if you feel unsafe or unsure.
- Nothing is so yucky that you can't tell someone about it.
Bravehearts aims to teach children these principles through a behaviour approach to content delivery, interactive games, and catchy, age-appropriate songs.

On Wednesday 21st May, the Launcing into Learning program vistied the Rosny Library to take part in National Simultaneous Stroytime. This annual event celebrates the joy of reading and brings children together across Australia to enjoy the same book at the same time.
This year's feature story was The Truck Cat, read aloud by Jo Cornish, Minister for Education. The children were highly engaged and thoroughly enjoyed the storytelling session. It was a wonderful opportunitly to promote early literacy in a fun and interactive way.
Thank you to Rosny Library for hosting this special event, all involved had a fantastic time.
Our Kinder children have been exploring the outdoor environment with great excitement. They have enjoyed connecting with nature with lots of opportunities to inquire, discover and investigate through their play.

We welcome volunteers at Warrane Primary School. As you would know from the past, volunteers require a Working with Vulnerable People check to be able to come onsite to help with events and excursions.

There is now an additional requirement that all volunteers have completed the mandatory safeguarding training module. The certificate must be provided to our office staff before you are able to volunteer.

Authorisation for Administration of Student Medication forms need to be filled out for both prescription and non-prescription medications. You can find blank forms attached below or request them from the school office. Form A is for non-prescription medicine and can be filled in by a parent. Form B is for prescription medicine and needs a GP or pharmacist input. Students needing short-term medication like antibiotics or Panadol must submit these forms before staff can administer them.
All medical forms must be updated yearly and signed by the child’s healthcare provider. If the current forms are less than two years old, a letter from your GP can confirm their validity.

All students are welcome.

We have students who are allergic to nuts and eggs. As this allergic reaction can be life threatening, the school asks that these products are not brought to school in children’s lunch boxes or for class celebrations.
Items not to be brought to school include but are not limited to - all nut products, peanut butter, Nutella, peanut oil in margarines and all egg products.
It is important that all classes observe this nut and egg aware policy due to the danger of an allergic child coming into contact with residue left by other classes. The parents/carers and staff appreciate your co-operation in this serious matter.
A reminder that families are required to use the larger family carpark for school drop off and pick up.
The smaller carpark near the early years classes is for staff and service vehicles only. It does not have enough parking for families and the visibility of the surrounding area and access in and out during busy times creates an added safety risk to students.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this.
