Hello to our Warrane Primary families,
Our Open Classroom Afternoon yesterday was a great success, with many families visiting the school and their children’s classroom. I particularly loved seeing how proud the students were when sharing their learning with their special people and having the opportunity to speak with many of you.
Classroom teachers are busily preparing work samples to send home with students on the last day of term. Students will receive a Maths and English work sample of their learning this term. Families of students who are absent on this day will receive their work samples via mail. You are encouraged to arrange a time with your child’s classroom teacher in Term 4 if you would like to discuss the work samples and your child’s progress further.
For the next two weeks students in Years 3-6 are participating in the Swimming and Water Safety Program at Oceana Pool. This program is run by qualified swim instructors and focusses on developing students swimming skills so that they feel confident, safe, and competent when in the water. We look forward to hearing more about the Swimming Program in the final newsletter of the term.
We have two visiting performances next week, with Years 3-6 attending a performance at school from Bell Shakespeare Theatre Company on Wednesday and Prep- Year 4 a musical performance from Timmy and the Breakfast Band on Thursday.
I wish everyone a lovely end to their week,
Eliza

PRE-KINDER 2024
Our pre kinder sessions are held every Thursday from 9:00am – 10:00am in the Kindergarten classroom.
These sessions are for:
- Children who live in the area and will be attending Warrane Primary School in 2025.
- Children turning four years old on the 1January or who were born in 2020.
Children must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for the supervision and management of the child in their care.
Kinder enrolment forms are available to collect at the office.
Looking forward to seeing many new and familiar families.
Kind regards,
Mrs Reinbach
Congratulations to Charlie and Flynn who received Aussie of the Term certificates in assembly this week.
Aussie of the term offers the opportunity to recognise exceptional students who are contributing to their community and reflecting some of the values we share as Australians, such as:
Fair go – not just how we apply ourselves but providing opportunity for all.
Mateship – generosity of spirit and compassion for those in need.
Respect – of self, others, our community, and the environment.
Inclusion – celebrating of difference and the rights we are all entitled to.
Congratulations to the Grades 3-6 Maths Extension students who received a certificate for participating in the Maths competition.
*Absent from maths competition- Audrey and Felix
SWIMMING AND WATER SAFETY PROGRAM
Students in Years 3-6 will be participating in the SWSP from Monday 16th September-Friday 27th September at Oceana pool. The program will consist of 10 lessons with qualified instructors who will ensure students are made to feel safe and supported during the program. Water safety and swimming is an important part in our lives in Tasmania and has a requirement that all students learn to be safe and competent in water environments as a component of the school curriculum. Students who choose not to participate will still travel to the pool each day with their grade.

Your child must have the following items every day of their program, please send them to school with their bathers on underneath their school uniform:
- Swimming gear – including bathers and a swimming cap (WPS can provide if needed)
- Underwear to change into
- A towel and plastic bag to put wet clothes in
- Slides or thongs
Please note:
Goggles: Student may use goggles in the pool, however, they are not necessary. An aim of the program is that students become competent in their skills without the use of goggles.
Jewellery: For safety reasons, ear studs and dangly earrings are not to be worn in the pool. Sleepers are allowed.
Rash tops: Rash tops are discouraged. While rash tops are suitable for water wear, their main purpose is sun protection.
Parents/carers are welcome to attend the program, however they are not permitted in the student change rooms. Families are also asked to only take photos/videos of their own children.
Yesterday we had an Open Classroom afternoon for all classes. It was an opportunity for students to share work samples and for parents to speak to their child’s classroom teacher. It was a wonderful turnout and fantastic to see so many family members visiting our school.
This year’s Book Week Parade was fantastic with lots of amazing characters. Well done everyone.
Congratulations to the keen readers who were chosen to receive a Book Fair voucher.

Our Book Fair was also very successful. We earned over $600 to spend on books for the library. Thank you to all the families who visited the Book Fair and helped us by purchasing books and other items.
SCHOOL SATISFACTION SURVEY 2024
The 2024 School Satisfaction Surveys are coming!
Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts a School Satisfaction Survey to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve.
We would be grateful if you completed our online survey about Warrane Primary School. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school-planning and decision-making.
The survey is open from Monday 26 August 2024 until Friday 20 September 2024 and should take about 5 minutes to complete.
Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
Take the online survey by clicking this Link, or pasting it in your browser: https://nam.dcv.ms/r9e3BEjttm
The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential.
All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department for Education, Children and Young People staff.
Please contact your school if you require any assistance.
Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.Enrolments for PCYC Holiday Program for Term 3 are now open.
Please contact PCYC on 6107 9040 for enrolment forms.
A reminder that families are required to use the larger family carpark for school drop off and pick up.
The smaller carpark near the early years classes is for staff and service vehicles only. It does not have enough parking for families and the visibility of the surrounding area and access in and out during busy times creates an added safety risk to students.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this.
If your child requires medication or an EpiPen at school, the following guidelines need to be followed:
- All medications and EpiPen's must be in date and in the original packaging with the Pharmacist label stating the child’s name and dosage (this includes non-prescription medication, eg paracetamol).
- A Parent/Guardian DoE Authorisation form needs to be completed for all medications that are to be administered at school.
- Medical Practitioner/Pharmacist DoE Authorisation forms needs to be completed for ongoing prescription medication and EpiPen’s.
- Asthma, epilepsy and anaphylaxis action plans need to be updated every year by your doctor and provided to the school office.
