Hello to the Warrane Primary community.
Term 2 is almost complete. Term 2 ends, tomorrow the 5th of July. Term 3 begins on Monday the 22nd of July.
Students have been busy this week thinking and discussing NAIDOC week, which officially starts in the holidays on Sunday the 7th of July. Students have been celebrating and recognising the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme is ‘Keep the fire burning!’ – representing the enduring strength and vitality of Indigenous cultures that have been passed down through generations despite the challenges they faced.
Next term brings many exciting and engaging opportunities for all grades. Winter Sports will begin for Grades 3-6 every second Friday, starting in Week 1, students have started training for this at play times.
Book Week is in Week 5, more information will be shared with you closer to the date.
DITTO Bravehearts are coming to present a play about safety.
Keep a look out for the assembly timetables and when your child’s class is presenting.
Grade 6 leaders will be organising several fundraisers for their end of year celebrations.
Be safe over the holiday break, rest well and enjoy time with your friends and family.

Principal

TAS NETWORKS STEAM PROGRAM
Last week, students in Years 3 to 6 were fortunate enough to take part in several STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) workshops run by TasNetworks.
Year 5/6 students thoroughly enjoyed engaging in an electrical circuit building challenge. These students really enjoyed learning about electricity and creating circuits which incorporated both light and sound.
Thank you to the TasNetworks Graduate Team for providing this wonderful opportunity for our students.
BUDDIES
5/6 S-B have Prep for buddies. Basically, buddies are when two classes come together to have lunch together, do some drawing and other activities.
Recently, we have done portraits for our buddies, which was a fun experience for some people. Prep also had lots of fun with 5/6.
We hope that BUDDIES continues to be fun as the year passes by…

3/4 SPENCER - LEARNING SNAPSHOT
As we approach the holidays, it is fun to reflect on some of the activities that the class has been involved in this term. In science we have investigated how solids and liquids change state and what makes this happen. We were lucky enough to go on an excursion to the Woodbridge Marine Discovery Centre where the students engaged in a number of activities including underwater VR exploration, meeting various sea creatures in the touch pool, and even stroking sharks! It has been fantastic to see the students growing in confidence in all aspects of school and class life, and especially to see some students show courage by reading to the rest of the class. Everyone has earned a relaxing break.
Pre-Kinder 2024
Our first session of Pre-Kinder will be starting on Thursday 25th July from 9:00am – 10:00am in the Kindergarten classroom.
These sessions are for:
- Children who live in the area and will be attending Warrane Primary School in 2025.
- Children turning four years old on the 1January or who were born in 2020.
Children must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for the supervision and management of the child in their care.
Kinder enrolment forms are available to collect at the office.
Looking forward to seeing many new and familiar families.
Kind regards,
Mrs Reinbach

The cooler months bring colds, flu, COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses. The best way to look after yourself and your family is to prepare, plan and protect.
- Prepare and get vaccinated. Making sure the whole family are up to date with their flu and COVID-19 vaccines is the best way to protect them from getting very sick.
- Flu can be serious for young children. Children are more likely to catch and spread the flu and young children may become very sick.
- Everyone aged over 6 months can receive an annual flu vaccine. Flu vaccines are free* for children under 5 years, pregnant women, people aged over 65 years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and those with certain medical conditions.
- Adults can receive COVID-19 vaccine every 6 to 12 months, depending on age and individual health. Speak to your GP or pharmacist about what vaccines are recommended for you and your family.
- You can receive flu and COVID-19 vaccines on the same day. Book an appointment with your GP or local pharmacist today.

A reminder that parents must not park in the staff car park to pick up and drop off children.
The carpark at the front of the school is the designated parent/guardian carpark for dropping students off and picking them up.
The smaller carpark is strictly for staff parking and deliveries.
It is not safe for students to be walking through this carpark due to lack of visibility for delivery drivers and reversing cars.
We appreciate your cooperation.
If your child requires medication or an EpiPen at school, the following guidelines need to be followed:
- All medications and EpiPen's must be in date and in the original packaging with the Pharmacist label stating the child’s name and dosage (this includes non-prescription medication, eg paracetamol).
- A Parent/Guardian DoE Authorisation form needs to be completed for all medications that are to be administered at school.
- Medical Practitioner/Pharmacist DoE Authorisation forms needs to be completed for ongoing prescription medication and EpiPen’s.
- Asthma, epilepsy and anaphylaxis action plans need to be updated every year by your doctor and provided to the school office.
Warrane Primary are pleased to advise that we have the opportunity for Anglicare’s Taz Kids program to run a Taz Kids Club in our school in Term 3.
Taz kids is a program that supports children (aged 7-17) and their families. It is designed for students who might sometimes struggle emotionally, feel depressed, anxious or experience any other mental health concerns or those who live with a parent or guardian experiencing similar feelings.
The group aims to help young people learn how to cope with difficulties in life and build stress tolerance. It assists in understanding and managing their feelings, and promotes resilience.
Taz Kids Club is aimed at Grades 1 – 6 and will run for seven weeks during school time for around 50 minutes, with each session filled with games and learning activities. The Program is free and confidential.
For more information or to express your interest for your child please contact the school office.
