Hello to our Warrane families and community,
Welcome back to Term 2! It has already been a very busy term with students and staff participating in incursions, including the Delta Dogs Animal Awareness Program and staff participating in professional learning sessions for Reading and Wellbeing. We also welcome new staff to Warrane Primary this term, Mrs Jodi Freeman who will be covering my role when I am on leave from Week 4 and teacher assistants Steph, Lisa, Rachel, Katie, Sophie and Josie who is completing her TAFE qualification in Kinder.
We now have the exciting addition of the Seesaw communication platform for all classes. Seesaw will be used to share student learning and for general information and updates. If you have not connected to your child’s class, please contact your child’s classroom teacher or the school office for more information.
Tomorrow we are encouraging students to participate in National Walk Safely to School Day. Students and families are welcome to meet staff at the Warrane Green Belt Park, closest to Bligh Street at 8.15am to commence walking at 8.20am. Walking to school can help to promote daily healthy habits and instils road safety awareness in children.
On Monday we will host a special Mother’s Day or important family member breakfast for Warrane Primary families and community. Please join us in the school hall from 8.30am. We also have our first Term 2 assembly on Monday afternoon with 3/4 Wood hosting and Prep and 5/6 Bowerman/Stanford presenting.
I hope to see you at one of our many upcoming events.
Eliza Withers
Assistant Principal
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF TRADITIONAL OWNERS
I acknowledge and pay respect to the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community as the traditional and original owners of lutruwita/trowunna (Tasmania) and as the enduring custodians of the lands, seas, air and waterways. I pay respect to Elders past and present.
Welcome back to Term 2, we hope you enjoyed your break!
By showing up to school every day, your child will have the best opportunity at a bright future. It gives them every chance to be around friends, learn new things, and find interests.
We have lots in store for this term, including Delta Dog Program, School Cross Country, National Simultaneous Storytime, Mid-Year Reports and Family Progress (Parent/Teacher) meetings.
Good attendance habits can sometimes be hard to stick. Keep trying to create a solid routine, to set your child up for success for the rest of the year.
If you’re looking for tips on how to create better attendance habits, visit the Anything can happen website.
Please always talk to us if you’re having trouble getting your child to school. We’re here to help.
To all our volunteers – have you completed your safeguarding training yet?
This year, there is important training that anyone who works with children or young people must complete.
To complete your training, simply visit https://decyp-safeguarding.mygo1.com/login or use the QR on the flyer below or in the school office. Make sure you save the certificate to show the office you have completed it.
Thank you for leading the way in caring for our children and keeping young people safe.
Grade 1/2 Yellow have been very busy at the start of Term 2.
Here are some fantastic crayon and dyewash pictures about our holiday activities or some of our favourite things.
They look good hanging in our room giving us lots of colour!
5/6G have made a stellar start to Term 2. We have delved straight into exploring ‘light’ in science; how it works, how we see, and we have been moving around our environment to prove our hypothesis about light sources, and the creation of shadows.
In HASS we are exploring the concept of preconceived ideas and how they impact on our capacity to be accepting and welcoming of differences. Maths is all about ‘space and geometry’ and our English focus is developing enthralling, exciting, and engaging ‘narratives.’
We have worked hard on designing and creating heartfelt acknowledgements for those special women in our lives. We hope all the Mums, Other Mums, Step Mums, Adopted Mums, Foster Mums, Aunty/Sister/Grandma Mums, and all the other people who step up and step in when needed, are feeling seen, heard, and appreciated – not just this Sunday, but always.
Here’s to a continuing the Term with fun, high expectations, positive outcomes, and many memories made to treasure.

WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL DAY - TOMORROW 10TH MAY
WE’RE TAKING IT IN OUR STRIDE ON FRIDAY 10 MAY 2024
National Walk Safely to School Day is on Friday 10th May. The annual campaign encourages all primary school children, their parents, and carers to walk safely and regularly to school. The event seeks to promote walking as part of a healthy, active way to get around and teaches your child safe ways to behave around roads and traffic.
Warrane Primary School students are invited to meet staff at the Warrane Green Belt Park closest to Bligh Street at 8.15am. Students and staff will leave the Green Belt at 8.20am to walk as a group to school. Students will then attend breakfast club and enjoy a healthy breakfast before starting their school day. Our school breakfast club is open from 8.30am-8.45am daily!
Grade 6 students were happy to receive their Leavers Hoodies last week - just in time for the cooler weather!

A reminder that parents must not park in the staff car park to pick up and drop off children.
The carpark at the front of the school is the designated parent/guardian carpark for dropping students off and picking them up.
The smaller carpark is strictly for staff parking and deliveries.
It is not safe for students to be walking through this carpark due to lack of visibility for delivery drivers and reversing cars.
We appreciate your cooperation.
If your child requires medication or an EpiPen at school, the following guidelines need to be followed:
- All medications and EpiPen's must be in date and in the original packaging with the Pharmacist label stating the child’s name and dosage (this includes non-prescription medication, eg paracetamol).
- A Parent/Guardian DoE Authorisation form needs to be completed for all medications that are to be administered at school.
- Medical Practitioner/Pharmacist DoE Authorisation forms needs to be completed for ongoing prescription medication and EpiPen’s.
- Asthma, epilepsy and anaphylaxis action plans need to be updated every year by your doctor and provided to the school office.
Warrane Primary are pleased to advise that we have the opportunity for Anglicare’s Taz Kids program to run a Taz Kids Club in our school in Term 3.
Taz kids is a program that supports children (aged 7-17) and their families. It is designed for students who might sometimes struggle emotionally, feel depressed, anxious or experience any other mental health concerns or those who live with a parent or guardian experiencing similar feelings.
The group aims to help young people learn how to cope with difficulties in life and build stress tolerance. It assists in understanding and managing their feelings, and promotes resilience.
Taz Kids Club is aimed at Grades 1 – 6 and will run for seven weeks during school time for around 50 minutes, with each session filled with games and learning activities. The Program is free and confidential.
For more information or to express your interest for your child please contact the school office.
