Hello to Warrane Families and the wider School Community,
I can’t believe it is nearly the end of Term 1 already. We have had such a busy term with students having the opportunity to participate in a range of excursions and incursions, including the Fire Education Program, Chess Club, Cultural Performances and Athletics Carnivals to name a few. Earlier in the term students in Years 3 & 5 completed NAPLAN testing and students in Prep have also completed the Progressive Achievement Testing (PAT) this week. Student’s results will be used to inform teacher planning and whole school priorities and will also be shared with parents, families, and the community in due course.
Progress reports will be sent home with your child tomorrow. These include an outline of the yearly reporting schedule, application to learning for Term 1 and evidence of learning through work samples. The work samples are designed to provide families with a snapshot of the students learning throughout the term and are aligned to the English or Maths Curriculum, the Early Years Framework or a student’s individual learning goals.
Next term the school will be implementing the Seesaw communication app. The app allows family member to connect to their child’s class and child’s learning journal. This will be an easy way for the school, teachers, and families to communicate, share learning progress and updates and announcements. Seesaw is for general and/or daily communication about your child’s learning. If you need to speak to your child’s classroom teacher, please email them directly or ring the school office to make an appointment. We also ask that you report student absences through the current channels, including calling the office, the SZ app or the new text message system.
Have a relaxing and safe break. Looking forward to a great Term 2 starting on Monday 29th April.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF TRADITIONAL OWNERS
I acknowledge and pay respect to the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community as the traditional and original owners of lutruwita/trowunna (Tasmania) and as the enduring custodians of the lands, seas, air and waterways. I pay respect to Elders past and present.
1/2 WILLIAMS LEARNING SNAPSHOT
In 1/2 Williams fine motor is a fun part of our literacy rotations every week. Students explore different activities such as beading, threading, colouring, puzzles, shaving cream writing, cutting and pasting. All these activities are helping us improve our letter formation and writing stamina.
It has been a busy term in 3/4 Spencer. We kicked off our English with a focus on how narratives are structured, and the students keenly using their imaginations to write their own stories. There is also a keen interest in reading. In Maths we investigated the place value parts of numbers and even made some inventive pictures using place value blocks. We made our own sundials to investigate how they work and made our own clocks to help with learning how to tell the time. Our Science focus was on the biology of plants and how bees are crucial for their pollination, and the class presented their knowledge in an assembly play. The students are looking forward to a well-earned holiday.
Busy times in Prep!
We have had a wonderful term, it has been lovely to see how comfortable the students are in the playground and how they interact with other students across all the year groups with a smooth transition to full time school.
They have been brave and performed well in assembly, participated in activities with the whole school including their Friday fun choices. They enjoyed the Athletics carnival and morning Gotcha assemblies along with the Fire Education program. Easter Bunny also found the students recently in Prep, what an exciting afternoon that was!
The students have shown us that they are resilient and keen learners, having a go at challenges presented to them. We are very proud of our Prep students.
Enjoy some of the photos of our busy term!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, PCYC are unfortunately unable to facilitate a Holiday Program for the Term 1 period at Warrane Primary School.
Everything is in place for holiday care to commence in Term 2.

A reminder that parents must not park in the staff car park to pick up and drop off children.
The carpark at the front of the school is the designated parent/guardian carpark for dropping students off and picking them up.
The smaller carpark is strictly for staff parking and deliveries.
It is not safe for students to be walking through this carpark due to lack of visibility for delivery drivers and reversing cars.
We appreciate your cooperation.
If your child requires medication or an EpiPen at school, the following guidelines need to be followed:
- All medications and EpiPen's must be in date and in the original packaging with the Pharmacist label stating the child’s name and dosage (this includes non-prescription medication, eg paracetamol).
- A Parent/Guardian DoE Authorisation form needs to be completed for all medications that are to be administered at school.
- Medical Practitioner/Pharmacist DoE Authorisation forms needs to be completed for ongoing prescription medication and EpiPen’s.
- Asthma, epilepsy and anaphylaxis action plans need to be updated every year by your doctor and provided to the school office.
Warrane Primary are pleased to advise that we have the opportunity for Anglicare’s Taz Kids program to run a Taz Kids Club in our school in Term 3.
Taz kids is a program that supports children (aged 7-17) and their families. It is designed for students who might sometimes struggle emotionally, feel depressed, anxious or experience any other mental health concerns or those who live with a parent or guardian experiencing similar feelings.
The group aims to help young people learn how to cope with difficulties in life and build stress tolerance. It assists in understanding and managing their feelings, and promotes resilience.
Taz Kids Club is aimed at Grades 1 – 6 and will run for seven weeks during school time for around 50 minutes, with each session filled with games and learning activities. The Program is free and confidential.
For more information or to express your interest for your child please contact the school office.
