Hello Warrane families, friends and community,
This term has gone by so fast, and we still have many exciting events coming up in our final weeks of Term 4. Today, students in Year 5 had the opportunity to be elected for School Captain and Sports Captain positions for 2024. All the students showed immense courage when standing up in front of their peers and reading their speeches. The students and staff in the Upper Primary classes voted for their chosen representative and the successful candidates will be announced at the whole school assembly.
Next week we have the Rose Bay High School band visiting and Prep-Year 6 reports and the Kinder celebration of learning will be sent home with students. Our whole school assembly is on Monday 18th December from 11.40am in the school hall. End of year award winners from each class will be announced and each class will present a short Christmas item. Families and friends are welcome to attend.
Students in Kinder-Year 6 will participate in a whole school excursion on Wednesday 20th December to Eastside Activity Centre. Students thoroughly enjoyed their time at Eastside Activity Centre last year and were able to participate in a range of fun activities.
A big thank you to our families and community that have donated prizes for our Christmas Raffle. It is not too late to contribute, with items being collected in your child’s classroom or the school office up until Friday 15th.
I am sure that we will see you at one of our many events over the coming weeks, but for those we don’t, I wish you a wonderful end to term and a safe and happy holiday break.
Eliza Withers
Assistant Principal
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF TRADITIONAL OWNERS
I acknowledge and pay respect to the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community as the traditional and original owners of lutruwita/trowunna (Tasmania) and as the enduring custodians of the lands, seas, air and waterways. I pay respect to Elders past and present.
Congratulations to the following students who received Aussie of the Term in assembly this week:
Lacy, Charlie-anne, Kiarra, Harrison, Odin, Willow and Arlo.
Absent from photo - Harrison & Kiarra
If you have a child born in 2019 (turning 5 in 2024), and you live in the Warrane Primary intake area, please come and see our office staff to collect an enrolment form.
PREP/1 EXCURSION TO LITTLEWOOD BERRY FARM
This week both Prep/1 classes went on an excursion to Littlewood Berry Farm where we met the sheep and picked our own strawberries. It was a great reminder of some of the science we learnt earlier in the year about what animals and plants need to survive.
End of Year Awards Assembly:
Monday 18 December – 11.40am - 1.00pm
Year 6 Leavers Assembly:
Thursday 21 December – 12.00 - 1.00pm
On Wednesday 20th December students from Kinder to Year 6 will travel to Eastside Activity Centre for our whole school end of year excursion. Students will have the opportunity to participate in trampolining, ninja courses and gymnastic. Information about our excursion will be sent home with students next week.
In the last week of school, Grade 6 students will be participating in excursions and school-based activities to celebrate their time at Warrane Primary School and their journey into high school.

A reminder to families that end of year reports will be distributed on Friday 15th December. The report will show your child’s learning achievement on a 9-point visual scale for students in Years Prep to 6. The 9-point scale shows where your child’s learning achievement is against the expected standard for their year level. In their report students will also receive information on their class for 2024.
Tickets are now available for the 2023 Christmas Raffle. We have had some awesome prizes donated so make sure you get your entries in! The raffle will be drawn at the end of year assembly on Monday 18th December.
We are pleased to advise that the Bridgewater PCYC Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) will be running before and after school care, as well as a holiday program from Week 1 Term 1 in 2024.
Thank you for your patience while we are getting this set up.
The school office will re-open from Monday 22nd January for uniform sales, levy payments and any last-minute enrolments. We will be open from 10am-2pm each day.
Starting next year, our breakfast club will operate from Monday to Friday mornings from 8.30am till 8.50am.
Students should not be on the school site until 8.30am. Students arriving before this time will need to enrol in the Outside School Hours Care program (OSHC).
The School Association has done some fantastic fundraising this year to support our school community. Please consider joining us in 2024! Dates and times for meetings will be advertised in the school newsletter and on Facebook.
The Department for Education, Children and Young People has announced new department-wide values that reflect what we stand for, guide our decision making and underpin all aspects of our work. Connection. Courage. Growth. Respect. Responsibility. These values represent the start of our work together and are a mix of values that have served us well in the past, and ones that will help us to move forward to ensure every child and young person in Tasmania has a bright life and positive future.
Student Assistant forms for 2024 are now available. You can apply using the online form at: Student Assistance Scheme (STAS) (education.tas.gov.au) or by using the paper form from the school office.

A reminder that hats are required for Term 4. Please ensure that your child has a sun-safe hat to wear. Hats can be purchased at the office for $6. No caps please.
Please ensure your child's hat is clearly marked. In the event students don’t have a hat they will be asked to sit in the shaded area.
A reminder that parents must not park in the staff car park to pick up and drop off children.
The carpark at the front of the school is the designated parent/guardian carpark for dropping students off and picking them up.
The smaller carpark is strictly for staff parking and deliveries.
It is not safe for students to be walking through this carpark due to lack of visibility for delivery drivers and reversing cars.
We appreciate your cooperation.
As you may be aware, Warrane Primary School is a Nut Aware School. In order to reduce the risk of contact with these foods, eating times are closely supervised and children are required to wash their hands after eating to ensure there is no risk of contamination by touch.
We are seeking your help in keeping our school Nut Aware by asking that you do not send any items with your child/ren that may contain nuts.
Foods of greatest risk would be peanut butter, nutella and sweets containing nuts.
Thank you for your understanding.
