It has been wonderful to see the Prep, Grade 1 & 2 students participating in the Water Awareness and Safety program at Oceana this week. They have developed so much confidence in such a short space of time. I am sure they will all be very tired by tomorrow afternoon, but it has been well worth it! Water safety is such an important set of skills to have, especially coming into the warmer months of the year.
Our garden is looking absolutely amazing at the moment! The students have been working hard with Ollie to plant, nurture and harvest the fruit and vegetables. Today Ollie has been teaching students how to sow and look after carrots, use fertiliser to ‘feed’ the vegetables, build support for the tomato plants and much more. Most Wednesday and Thursday afternoons you can pick up a free bunch of vegetables that students have harvested at the office area or front gate!
Prep/1 students have been working hard in Numeracy to name, organise, draw and describe shapes. Mr. Spencer has been taking advantage of the sunshine and our beautiful grounds, taking students outside to do their learning. Working outside creates energy, engagement and excitement for learning!
Grade 4/5 have been designing posters in their classroom to support their positive wellbeing and celebrating their learning.
The Grade 5s in both classes are beginning to talk about being Leaders next year and deciding if they want to put themselves forward for School or House Captains.
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
Sarah Hoban,
Principal
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF TRADITIONAL OWNERS
I acknowledge and pay respect to the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community as the traditional and original owners of lutruwita/trowunna (Tasmania) and as the enduring custodians of the lands, seas, air and waterways. I pay respect to Elders past and present.
ROSE BAY HIGH SCHOOL ORIENTATION DAY
Rose Bay High School are holding their Orientation Day next Wednesday 29th November. Grade 6 students enrolled at Rose Bay for 2024 are to arrive at RBHS from 8:30, and can be picked up at 2:45pm.
Notices with information about the day were sent home this week. Please contact the office if you need another copy.
If you have a child born in 2019 (turning 5 in 2024), and you live in the Warrane Primary intake area, please come and see our office staff.
Pre-Kinder sessions are underway. If your child will be coming to Kinder here next year, please come along on Thursday mornings from 9am - 10 am with Mrs Reinbach in the Kinder building.
We are pleased to advise that the Bridgewater PCYC Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) will be running before and after school care, as well as a holiday program from Week 1 Term 1 2024. While we had hoped to have PCYC OSHC in and running this term, there are still details being finalised to make sure everything is in place to provide a great care service for our families.
Thank you for your patience while we are getting this set up.
A reminder that parents must not park in the staff car park to pick up and drop off children.
The carpark at the front of the school is the designated parent/guardian carpark for dropping students off and picking them up.
The smaller carpark is strictly for staff parking and deliveries.
It is not safe for students to be walking through this carpark due to lack of visibility for delivery drivers and reversing cars.
We appreciate your cooperation.
This term in 2/3 we have been learning about procedural writing. Students had a go at writing a recipe for Fairy Bread and then we put them to the test to see if we had been successful in our descriptions.
We quickly found that it was important to list all the equipment needed, as making Fairy Bread without a knife or plate proved very difficult. It was fantastic to see the conversations the students were having and the suggestions they were making to improve their own writing.
We also had a lot of fun and enjoyed eating our yummy Fairy Bread!
AUSTRALIAN MATHEMATICS COMPETITION
Congratulations to the following students who participated in the Australian Mathematics Competition earlier this term. The competition contained a range of problems designed to challenge and extend students’ mathematical problem-solving skills across a range of maths areas.

Please ensure your child's hat is clearly marked. In the event students don’t have a hat they will be asked to sit in the shaded area.
2023 TERM DATES
Term 4
Monday 16 October - Thursday 21 December
The school day commences at 8:55am and concludes at 2:45pm. This applies to all classes, Kinder to Grade 6.
Kinder students attend on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
As you may be aware, Warrane Primary School is a Nut Aware School. In order to reduce the risk of contact with these foods, eating times are closely supervised and children are required to wash their hands after eating to ensure there is no risk of contamination by touch.
We are seeking your help in keeping our school Nut Aware by asking that you do not send any items with your child/ren that may contain nuts.
Foods of greatest risk would be peanut butter, nutella and sweets containing nuts.
Thank you for your understanding.
