Hello Warrane Families and Community,
We have had another busy week at school, including a performance from Terrapin Puppet Theatre for students in Kinder-Year 6.
Selected students from Years 3-6 participated in the Interschool Swimmming Carnival today at the Aquatic Centre. Mr Kamano reported that students did exceptionally well and represented our school with pride.
Next Friday we have our Jump Rope for Heart ‘Jump Off’ afternoon from 2.00pm on the top court for Prep-Year 6 students. Families are welcome to attend to see the different skills that the students have learnt over the last coming weeks. Families are still able to donate to the student profiles online.
A friendly reminder that students are required to wear a school hat in Term 4 when outside, this is particularly important as we experience some beautiful warmer weather.
Have a lovely remainder of your week,
Sarah Hoban

Teachers play a critical role in cultivating children’s futures. They have a lasting impact on students, families and the wider community.
A national advertising campaign Be That Teacher launched this week, highlighting the meaningful role of teachers. It’s a joint initiative between Australian, state and territory governments.
The campaign features inspirational stories from teachers across Australia.
It’s those stories of the teacher who helped us to learn and grow. Who gave us the confidence to explore and master new talents and skills.
It’s the teacher who encouraged us to strive for more, and helped us reach our potential.
We are proud of our teacher, Miss Andrews, who features in the campaign (link below)
Prep to Year 2 students will be participating in the Swimming and Water Safety Program at Oceana Swimming Pool from Monday 20th- Friday 24th November this term. Permission forms have been sent home with students. Please return as soon as possible. If students do not have signed permission they can not attend.
It has been an exciting start to term 4 for 3/4 Wood, with lovely new flexible furniture added to our classroom. Students have been enjoying the wobble stools, standing desk, high stools and whiteboard tables, including our new rug!
The Grade 3-6 Inter-School Swimming team represented Warrane Primary School and competed against other schools in the SPSSA Division G Swimming Carnival at the Hobart Aquatic Centre. Warrane Primary came 6th in this carnival and students had a great time, showed great sportsmanship and courage.
On Monday November 6th Terrapin performed a wonderful play called “Riddle of Washpool Gully”, which was about a child and their mother (who was an archaeologist). They move to Washpool which can only be found by mistake; soon after they move to Washpool the child befriends a monster (that was imaginary, but it felt real) and the mother doesn’t believe the child until the end of the play, when she finds hundreds of bones in the gully the child hangs out in. The play was good, and it had lots of stories to it, the props were interesting and cool.
By Audrey
“The story had a twist. I wondered what the animal was.” Kaedynce
“At the start of the story, it said you had to take all the wrong turns to get to Washpool Gully, but by the end people were able to come in.” Ada
“It looked like the animal was a kangaroo, deer, rabbit and wolf all mixed together.” Ava
“The animal sounded like a wolf, but it wasn’t one. I really liked the set up and props.” Lylah
“There was a train that had a sound that could sound like the animal.” Tshewang
“There were bones at the end of the play. They may have been the monster bones.” Eli
“The relationship development between the mother and her child was heartfelt and dynamic. They got to grow as people and get to know each other in a better way.” Mrs Gearman
Warrane Primary School are participating in Jump Rope for Heart this year!
A fantastic fundraising and physical program by the Heart Foundation.
By participating in Jump Rope for Heart this term, we are expecting to get students moving. We will have ropes available on the school grounds and encourage everyone to help raise funds for lifesaving research and support programs.
In Weeks 1-5 of Term 4 your child will learn new skills, increase their physical activity, and learn about heart health. The program will end with our school wide “Jump Off Day” on Friday 17th November at 2pm, where your child will get to show off their new skipping skills to their friends on our top courts. Families are welcome to attend. Kinder will have their “Jump Off Day” during their PE lesson.
When you register your child online you will get access to additional skipping resources to help give your child a great reason to get away from the screens and get outdoors. Register and create your own secure webpage at jumprope.org.au/parents or the QR code found in the fundraising flyer which was sent to students last term. You can also collect a cash sponsorship form from the school office.
By signing up online you and your child can:
- Easily raise funds online
- Track skipping skills progress and earn virtual badges along the way
- Post updates to your page so family and friends can follow their progress
- Access additional skipping resources
Thank you for getting involved in Jump Rope for Heart!
If you reside in our school intake area, and your child will be attending Kindergarten at Warrane School in 2024, (turning 5 years old during 2024) please complete a form at the office.
As you may be aware, Warrane Primary School is a Nut Aware School. In order to reduce the risk of contact with these foods, eating times are closely supervised and children are required to wash their hands after eating to ensure there is no risk of contamination by touch.
We are seeking your help in keeping our school Nut Aware by asking that you do not send any items with your child/ren that may contain nuts.
Foods of greatest risk would be peanut butter, nutella and sweets containing nuts.
Thank you for your understanding.
A reminder that hats are required for Term 4. Please ensure that your child has a sun-safe hat to wear. Hats can be purchased at the office for $6. No caps please.
Please ensure your child's hat is clearly marked. In the event students don’t have a hat they will be asked to sit in the shaded area.
Parents should not be parking in the staff car park to pick up and drop off children.
The visitor carpark is the designated parent/guardian carpark for dropping students off and picking them up.
The smaller carpark is the staff/delivery carpark. Due to poor visibility and delivery trucks traversing the staff carpark, parents/guardians are requested to only use the visitor carpark.
We appreciate your cooperation.
