Hello to the Warrane community
Well it is that time of year again! Our whole school assembly is on Monday at 11.30am and the Grade 6 Leaders Assembly is on Wednesday at 12.00pm, both in the school hall. All are welcome to join us to celebrate.
End of year reports are being sent home with students on Friday the 13th of December. Reports will include work samples and a mark against the Australian Curriculum and/or Personal Learning Goals.
On Wednesday students in Kinder-Year 5 visited their 2025 classes for a ‘Step Up’ morning. Students were able to speak with their upcoming teacher and visit their classroom space. All reports from students and staff were that it was a huge success, with lots of excitement all around.
This year we have two staff that are moving on to different schools.
Leanne Wilson started at Warrane Primary in 2017 and has been a fundamental part of our teaching team. She has had a variety of roles within the school, including classroom teacher and most recently being the Quality Teaching Coach, working alongside teachers to improve their practice and supporting them develop skills in teaching literacy.
Deb Morgan, who is the English as a second language teacher, is moving to work full time at one of the other schools that she is currently working at. Deb has worked in this role for two years at Warrane Primary and has formed many close relationships with families and our community.
I would like to wish Leanne and Deb all the best for their future teaching roles and thank them for all the work they have done at Warrane for the students and the community.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday break.
Sarah Hoban

Bonorong Excursion
By Layla (Year Five)
On Thursday, 28th November our class went on a trip to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and Parklands, Bridgewater.
First, we all sat under a shelter and ate our food. When we were done, we went over to see Dewey the wombat. The lady who was our guide was called Mia, she talked to us about Dewey. She told us that baby wombats bite their mum’s bottom but the mum has a hard plate, so it doesn’t hurt.
We really loved getting to meet all the different animals.
Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and Bridgewater Parklands
By Ada (Year Five)
On Thursday, 28th November my class went to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary.
First, we saw wombats. Then we saw birds, including an albino cockatoo.
My favourite part was the kangaroos. We got to walk around and feed them by hand.
Then at 12pm, we went to Bridgewater Park. There was a zipline where we did a boys vs. girls relay. There was also a giant hamster wheel, it was very cool.
Overall it was a great day!
Students in 5/6 Bowerman/Stanford have been learning about poetry. As part of this, Christian wrote an incredible poem called ‘Poem of Nature’. Enjoy!
Poem Of Nature
Morning rises, sun ablaze,
Trees floating, leaves running a race,
Clouds are fluffy, sky a bright blue,
Wake in the morning, sun shining on you.
Grass is greener than before,
Tales of time, extra lore,
Maybe its not long for your wreakfest,
Before that, you should have some breakfast!
Eggs are cooking, they smell amaze!
Light comes in for a little gaze,
Sausages are sizzling,
Its soon for the sky to be drizzling.
After that delicious meal,
An advert catches your appeal,
You shock in happiness and surprise,
A competition for a great prize!
The competition starts, you get ready,
Some adrenalines in you has no remedy,
You start running, faster than before,
Soon…
Others run; this game is hardcore!
You run, and run, and run, and run.
You sometimes have a little fun!
But this fun doesn’t last,
As you run, and run, you run very fast!
Tickets are available for the 2024 Christmas Raffle. We have had some awesome prizes donated so make sure you get your entries in! The raffle will be drawn at the end of year assembly on Monday 16th December.
CHRISTMAS CRAFT IDEAS FOR HOME
CANDY CANE REINDEER
Materials
- Craft glue or hot glue
- Large candy canes
- Red candies (like red smarties) or red pom-poms
- Small googly eyes
- Brown pipe cleaners
How to Make Candy Cane Reindeer
- Place a dab of craft glue or hot glue on the end of a candy cane's hook and press a red candy or red pom-pom onto the glue. Repeat until all of your candy canes have red noses.
- Smear a strip of glue about above the nose and press two googly eyes onto the glue.
- Twist a brown pipe cleaner at the top of the candy cane, right where it starts to curve. Pinch each side several times, so that it has bends that resemble reindeer antlers. If your pipe cleaner seems to slip around, add a dab of glue to the bottom so that it doesn't slide.
- Your candy cane reindeer are now finished. Although the candy canes are edible, the small parts and glue on the canes are not so these are more appropriate for decorations.
If you have received a payment plan for student levies, could you please return the forms to school office by Monday 16th December.
Student levies need to be paid each year. If you have any questions, please contact me on 6244 1747.
Thank you
Laura
School Business Manager
A reminder that hats are required for Term 4. Please ensure that your child has a sun-safe hat to wear. Hats can be purchased at the office for $6. No caps please.
Please ensure your child's hat is clearly marked. In the event students don’t have a hat they will be asked to sit in the shaded area.
Reminder that our breakfast club is open from our school hall Monday to Friday from 8:15am till 8:45am.
All students are welcome.
If your child requires medication or an EpiPen at school, the following guidelines need to be followed:
- All medications and EpiPen's must be in date and in the original packaging with the Pharmacist label stating the child’s name and dosage (this includes non-prescription medication, eg paracetamol).
- A Parent/Guardian DoE Authorisation form needs to be completed for all medications that are to be administered at school.
- Medical Practitioner/Pharmacist DoE Authorisation forms needs to be completed for ongoing prescription medication and EpiPen’s.
- Asthma, epilepsy and anaphylaxis action plans need to be updated every year by your doctor and provided to the school office.
A reminder that families are required to use the larger family carpark for school drop off and pick up.
The smaller carpark near the early years classes is for staff and service vehicles only. It does not have enough parking for families and the visibility of the surrounding area and access in and out during busy times creates an added safety risk to students.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this.
