Hello to the Warrane community,
Staff have been busy this week finalising assessments to determine end of year reports. Reports will be sent home with your child at the end of Week 9. The reports will contain a work sample for either Science or HASS, as well as a mark for all subjects taught this year.
Staff are also busy finalising staffing and classes for 2025. Families will be given information about their child’s 2025 class and teacher in Week 9, in time for our Step Up morning on Wednesday 11th December.
We have had lots of exciting events on throughout the school this week. On Monday Prep-Year 6 travelled to Ninja Stadium to participate in a Healthy Kicks Sports afternoon. Students participated in four activities, with a focus on ways to keep your mind and body healthy.
Both Grade 5/6 classes have been on end of years excursions this week. Grade 5/6 Gearman walked down to the cinema to watch Moana 2. Grade 5/6 Stanford/Bowerman travelled to Bonorong Park, which was very muddy, but they managed to stay reasonably dry. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for some photos!
On a personal note, Mrs Jones (Withers) and I have some exciting news to share….
Earlier this year we applied for a Hardie Fellowship and have recently found out that we were successful, along with 6 other DECYP teachers from across the state. The fellowship will allow us to travel to the USA mid-next year to visit several universities and work alongside exceptional educators. The focus of our study will be on studying targeted student wellbeing, engagement and attendance strategies. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we already can’t wait to bring back all our learnings to Warrane PS and our community.
There is lots on at this time of year, so please check the school calendar attached so that you can be a part of the end of year celebrations. If you have any questions about our end of year events dates or times please contact the school office.
Sarah Hoban

After school on Monday 8th November, the grade 5/6 girls with Mrs Gearman excitedly boarded a bus and headed to Mount Carmel College, Sandy Bay. There we were joined by a group of equally exuberant grade 10 students and Mr McNulty. We then travelled to Hobart City Mission Superstore in Moonah. Around 45 fabulous minutes were spent having an all expenses paid shopping spree. Purchases included clothing, soft toys, books, jewellery, cushions, games, hats, and much more. After all of the fashion parades, squeals of excitement, and deep thinking about what we could purchase for people at home, we were feeling pretty famished. Back on the bus, next stop Cornelian Bay Park. There we fought off the seagulls to feast on a delicious array of Dominos pizzas and garlic bread, all washed down with refreshing drinks. Some time spent on the play equipment, and an intense game of Hide & Seek, and far too soon it was time to take a group photo and return our happy selves back to school.
For the past 4 years the Mount Carmel students have spent their school year raising money to pay for the outing; each year choosing the Warrane Primary 5/6 girls to spend their hard-earned fundraising on. We are incredibly grateful to the students and their supportive teachers for this much appreciated opportunity.
Prep to Grade 6 students enjoyed participating in the Coles Healthy Kicks program on Monday at Ninja Stadium. This initiative has been created to inspire young Australians to enjoy healthy and happy lifestyles.
Tickets are available for the 2024 Christmas Raffle. We have had some awesome prizes donated so make sure you get your entries in! The raffle will be drawn at the end of year assembly on Monday 16th December.

So far we have raised $328 from our Zooper Dooper fundraiser! Thank you to all who participated. Money raised is going towards Grade 6 Leavers Activities.
A reminder that hats are required for Term 4. Please ensure that your child has a sun-safe hat to wear. Hats can be purchased at the office for $6. No caps please.
Please ensure your child's hat is clearly marked. In the event students don’t have a hat they will be asked to sit in the shaded area.
Reminder that our breakfast club is open from our school hall Monday to Friday from 8:15am till 8:45am.
All students are welcome.
If your child requires medication or an EpiPen at school, the following guidelines need to be followed:
- All medications and EpiPen's must be in date and in the original packaging with the Pharmacist label stating the child’s name and dosage (this includes non-prescription medication, eg paracetamol).
- A Parent/Guardian DoE Authorisation form needs to be completed for all medications that are to be administered at school.
- Medical Practitioner/Pharmacist DoE Authorisation forms needs to be completed for ongoing prescription medication and EpiPen’s.
- Asthma, epilepsy and anaphylaxis action plans need to be updated every year by your doctor and provided to the school office.
A reminder that families are required to use the larger family carpark for school drop off and pick up.
The smaller carpark near the early years classes is for staff and service vehicles only. It does not have enough parking for families and the visibility of the surrounding area and access in and out during busy times creates an added safety risk to students.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this.
