Hello to the Warrane Community and Families,
Welcome back to Term 4. As always this is a very busy term, and the first three weeks have been no exception.
As you would have read in notices home this year our school has had a whole school focus on student wellbeing and engagement. This term we have begun several new wellbeing initiatives, including Wellbeing Wednesday. Wellbeing Wednesday allows ten students who are present at school to be randomly chosen to go to a local park on an excursion. This program is designed to improve student connection, engagement, and attendance. Yesterday students who were chosen went to Wentworth Park, and next week students are going to Simmonds Park. On Thursday’s we have the reuse/upcycle hands-on learning garden program, giving students the opportunity to design, create and make a reusable item with Ollie and our garden team. On a Monday morning, we also have Learners Lounge, an initiative to celebrate and share learning across the school, selected students from each class are invited to the staff room to celebrate and share their learning over a milo and morning tea.
This week students form Prep to Year 6 have completed in Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT). Participation in PAT provides the school with valuable data on student progress and growth over time. It also informs whole school teaching and learning practices, including identifying students for tiered support.
At Monday’s assembly students in 5/6 Stanford-Bowerman were recognised for their participation in the National History Competition. Students had to write a response on the topic of, ‘Crisis and Response’. Congratulations to Year 5 student, Ada Preddy who has been invited to the Premiers Reception Room for the National History Awards Presentation next Thursday for her competition entry on Phar Lap.
I wish everyone a lovely end to their week and look forward to seeing you all at our many upcoming events this term.
Eliza

Last Monday Justin the Reptile man came to visit our school with many scaley reptile friends. Despite some hesitation from several students, they overcame their fears and realised that most of the reptiles were gentle yet alert and happy to be patted and even held. Students were educated about the importance of staying calm and still when they see any snakes or unknown reptiles, and when safe walk away.
Prep you were so brave, well done for respecting the reptiles and listening so well to Justin.
3/4 SPENCER - LEARNING SNAPSHOT
In 3/4 Spencer we have kicked off Term 4 in Science with looking into all things water related. We’ve seen condensation on plastic bottles on a warm day, and we’ve observed puddles “disappearing” in the sun and wind. Students have also investigated the school grounds to find all the places that water comes from and what it is used for. We are definitely making the most of the warmer weather and spending time outdoors. In English we have been looking at procedural texts and how they are structured. Beware parents/carers, as these students may well come home one day and give you a clear list of do and don’t instructions!
Selected students from Warrane Primary School will be participating at the upcoming SPSSA Division H Interschool Swimming Carnival. The event will take place on Wednesday 13 November, from 10:30am until 1pm at the Hobart Aquatic Centre. Parents are welcome to attend, making sure to enter through the main entrance where a $4 admission fee will need to be paid to the centre staff.
The bus will leave school at 9:25am and return to school at around 1.30pm.
Please ensure that your child arrives to school promptly on the day of the carnival with appropriate swimwear including bathers, goggles, a towel, underwear to change into and a bag for wet items. Black swimming caps will be provided by the school to identify our swimmers.
The kiosk will not be accessible. Children must bring a packed lunch and drink bottle filled with water.
A reminder that hats are required for Term 4. Please ensure that your child has a sun-safe hat to wear. Hats can be purchased at the office for $6. No caps please.
Please ensure your child's hat is clearly marked. In the event students don’t have a hat they will be asked to sit in the shaded area.
We have a school association meeting Friday 1st November at 9am. Please meet in the school office.
All welcome to join. The more the merrier!
Reminder that the freeze dried lolly forms are due back on Friday 8th November.
Perfect Christmas gifts and all money raised goes towards our Grade 6 Leavers Dinner.
Forms are available at the office.

If your child requires medication or an EpiPen at school, the following guidelines need to be followed:
- All medications and EpiPen's must be in date and in the original packaging with the Pharmacist label stating the child’s name and dosage (this includes non-prescription medication, eg paracetamol).
- A Parent/Guardian DoE Authorisation form needs to be completed for all medications that are to be administered at school.
- Medical Practitioner/Pharmacist DoE Authorisation forms needs to be completed for ongoing prescription medication and EpiPen’s.
- Asthma, epilepsy and anaphylaxis action plans need to be updated every year by your doctor and provided to the school office.
A reminder that families are required to use the larger family carpark for school drop off and pick up.
The smaller carpark near the early years classes is for staff and service vehicles only. It does not have enough parking for families and the visibility of the surrounding area and access in and out during busy times creates an added safety risk to students.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this.
